They say that our eyes are windows to our souls. Gazing deeply into someone’s eyes creates intimacy and a sense of connection. For every eye is absolutely unique. If you look closely, you will see a whole universe of contrasting flecks of color in different sizes, intricate patterns, delicate lines, and breathtaking depth. Your iCarpet captures the full beauty of your iris – or that of a loved one – in an artfully created object: your eye as a carpet for your wall or floor.

Your iCarpet can be made of vegetable bamboo silk, pure wool, or a blend of silk and wool. Bamboo silk shimmers and feels exactly like “real” silk, yet no animals are harmed in its production. The same goes for the Tibetan highland wool we use for iCarpet. Bamboo silk is very smooth and soft. Wool feels robust and warm. And the blend of silk and wool combines both characteristics. On the loom, your carpet is knotted in square format. When it is finished, the artisans cut the circle of the iris from the square. Size and format of your iCarpet will depend on your preferences.

The macro-lens photo of your iris serves as basis for the color selection. Jeannine chooses each individual color from a rich sample palette. The color samples are identical with the silk and wool the loom uses. Based on the sample codes, Jeannine creates a carpet-sized loom pattern that looks a bit like a paint-by-numbers template. If you prefer, we can also create your iCarpet in a monochromatic scale. Or even in a monochrome relief pattern with different pile lengths representing the individual colors in a three-dimensional structure.
